OCEAN CITY, MD - The Town of Ocean City announced that there will be a designated Special Event Zone for this year's Cruisin' Ocean City event.
The Town of Ocean City and the Ocean City Police Department announced that there will be a Special Event Zone from Tuesday, April 29th through Sunday, May 4th for Cruisin' OC.
During the Special Event Zone, the town says "speed limits will be reduced, and fines for violations will be increased". There will also be enhanced penalties for specific violations, including higher fines or arrest.
According to town officials, visitors and residents in Ocean City can expect and should anticipate an increase in police presence. Officers from the Ocean City Police Department, Maryland State Police, and the Worcester County Sheriff's Office will be at the event.
There will also be designated dates for enhanced paid parking rates and penalties from May 1st to May 4th. The Ocean City Police Department says this will "help manage the increased number of visitors and support public safety."
Those planning to attend Cruisin' Ocean City and or be in the area during the event should expect high pedestrian traffic. The town is encouraging those walking to use marked crosswalks, wait for signal changes, and look both ways when crossing roads.
