PRESTON, Md.- The town of Preston has unveiled it's first ever public art display.
The town posted two designs for residents to choose from. Amber Korell with the town says it was important to involve the community.
"We wanted to engage the community and make sure what we're doing is what the community wanted that's why we posted it a year ago, 'what do you think about the idea?' and it was well receptive so why not do what the community wants?, " said Korell. "We got the funds secure and wanted to work with that. And it's important because public art means so much to people on so many different levels."
Artist Nicholas Tindall says art has the power to bring a town together.
"As soon as you start, you know, putting the paint on the side of the building and bringing it to life, you really start to see people kind of brighten up and get curious and start to engage," said Tindall.
The town is already working on it's second public art installation, which will be a mediation mural, with work hopefully beginning next year.
