Tropical Storm Warning

DELMARVA - The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for Accomack County, VA, Worcester County, MD, portions of Somerset County, MD, and nearby waters.

The Hurricane Center says a low pressure area is expected to bring tropical storm conditions and the potential for serious storm surge to the coast on Saturday.

The storm warning spans from Cape Fear, North Carolina to the northern reaches of coastal Worcester County. Parts of the Chesapeake Bay south of Smith Point are also under a tropical storm warning.

The Hurricane Center says tropical storm conditions are expected in our area Saturday.

The National Weather Service is projecting a potential for wind 39 to 57 mph in the coastal areas.

A Storm Surge Watch has also been issued for the coast from Chincoteague, VA southward all the way to Surf City, NC and for the same areas of the Chesapeake Bay south of Smith Point. A surge of 2-4 ft could be seen in Chincoteague, according to the Hurricane Center.
