Snow is falling across Delmarva early Sunday morning as a major winter storm moves in. While the first wave is bringing accumulating snow, WBOC Chief Meteorologist Mike Lichniak says the bigger concern will develop later today as sleet and freezing rain take over in parts of the region.

Town and city crews across Sussex County are ramping up preparations for a weekend winter storm that could bring a mix of snow, sleet and ice, with officials urging people to finalize supplies, limit travel once conditions deteriorate and keep roads clear for plows.

Governor Abigail Spanberger has declared a State of Emergency as a winter storm is expected to impact much of the Commonwealth from Saturday through Monday morning.
