DNREC officials announced a section of beach at Cape Henlopen State Park has been reopened after the failure of a piping plovers nest.
For the first time since 2016, a piping plover nest was found at Gordons Pond in Cape Henlopen State Park, which has prompted a temporary closure of some of the beach.
Just ahead of the Memorial Day Weekend, The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) is spreading awareness of an Eastern Shore ecological icon - the Atlantic Coast piping plover.
