Felton Man Arrested for Shooting at Neighbor

FELTON, Del.- Delaware State Police have arrested a Felton man accused of shooting at his neighbor.

Troopers responded to a reported shooting just before 1:30 a.m. Monday at a home on Indian Runner Road in Felton.

The investigation revealed that a 48-year-old woman and 50-year-old man were home when Eugene Sykes, 42, came for a visit. During the visit, police say Sykes showed the man a .38 caliber revolver he recently got.

Then man let Sykes fire the gun at a target on the property, according to police.

Police said that then for unknown reasons, Sykes pointed the firearm in the direction of the woman and shot one round, narrowly missing her.

The man who lives at the home immediately took the gun from Sykes, according to police. He emptied the ammunition and threw the weapon in the yard. Police said that's when Sykes got into a physical fight with the man. Both suffered injuries.

Sykes ended up at an area hospital with injuries and was later released.

Sykes is now charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, and offensive touching.
