FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 59°F. Normal low: 38°F.
Continued northwest winds have kept Delmarva a few degrees below normal today, but it was still reasonably pleasant on the peninsula with lots of sunshine.
High pressure will slide off shore tonight, and as it does so winds will shift to a southwesterly direction. This will push a warm front up the Eastern Seaboard, bringing warmer temperatures to Delmarva, in the upper 60s.
With the passage of that warm front, there is a chance for some showers Friday afternoon and evening, which could interrupt any Friday evening plans..
With warm, southerly winds, we will warm up into the 70s this weekend. As a warm front lifts up the East Coast, we'll have a few more clouds over Delmarva on Saturday, and possibly a few showers on Sunday, but again, heavy rain and thunderstorms are not expected.
A cold front will approach on Monday, and showers and thunderstorms are possible. There is a possibility for a few strong thunderstorms to develop. The Storm Prediction Center has much of Delmarva under a 15 percent chance for severe thunderstorms Monday. Given a drop in temperatures from the mid 70s to the upper 50s on Tuesday, it would appear there will be quite a bit of energy released with this cold front. This is still several days away, so there is still uncertainty on the exact timing of any strong thunderstorms, or their intensity, so watch this space for updates.
Temperatures return to more seasonable levels starting Tuesday.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average above normal, and precipitation above normal for April 3 - April 9.
