Today: Partly cloudy with on and off showers and storms. Some of these storms will pack a punch. Highs: 83-88 (Beaches: 80-88). Winds: SW-W 10-25+ mph.
Tonight: Showers and storms linger early in the night before slowly settling down for most of us by the morning hours. Lows: 62-69. Winds: W 10-20+ mph.
Thursday: A few lingering showers across southern Delmarva early morning. Otherwise, it will be partly to mostly sunny and cooler with lower humidity. Highs: 74-83. Winds: N-NE 5-20+ mph.
Thursday Night: Becoming mostly clear. Lows: 58-70. Winds: NE 5-15 mph.
Friday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs: 75-85. Winds: NE-E 5-20+ mph.
Saturday: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs: 75-85. Winds: E-SE 5-20+ mph.
A few spotty showers and storms are going to be possible during the morning hours with more organized chances for more showers and thunderstorms as you move south across Delmarva today. We will have the front basically stalled out over the region and keeping things on the unsettled side with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible for much of the day. I don’t think these storms will have the bite that we saw on Tuesday, but they still could pack a punch with some strong and gusty winds, heavy rain, and lightning. The other thing we will need to watch for is the possibility of flash flooding as we will see the same spots see several thunderstorms dumping very heavy rain in a short period of time over several storms. We have already had a few Flash Flood Warnings last night from the amount of rain that fell and with quite a bit more possible in some of the same places again today…we need to be on the lookout for it. The front will slowly clear Delmarva by tonight with a clearing trend beginning as we head into the start of the Delaware State Fair on Thursday.
This front looks to linger for the early part of Thursday across far southern Delmarva as we could wake up to some rain showers before it continues to slowly push south into Hampton Roads and Eastern NC. As the sky clears, the wind will start to pick up behind the front out of the north and northeast and should bring in some cooler and drier air with highs on Thursday afternoon only expected into the 80s inland with our beach towns in the 70s.
The humidity will drop behind the front and lead to some cooler air arriving for the later in the week with highs in the 80s by Friday with morning temperatures on Friday morning may be in the 50s and 60s again. We stay dry at the moment for the weekend with a mix of sun and clouds early on Saturday and mostly sunny conditions on Sunday with highs in the 80s both days.
Watching for another warm up on Monday and Tuesday of next week where we return to near 90 degrees and our chances for showers and storms going back up for Tuesday and Wednesday.
