FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 71°F. Normal low: 49°F.
The frontal boundary that has brought us so far mainly just clouds has retreated to the north as a warm front, making for a summer-like day on most of Delmarva Friday.
Along the retreating front, there is enough forcing for a few pop-up showers and thunderstorms, with the greatest chances on the Midshore and northern Delaware, although the chances are low. If you have outdoor plans Friday night, you should be fine, just keep your eyes to the sky in case a storm does pop up in your community.
Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days, with warm temperatures and just a low chance for pop-up showers and thunderstorms. It is possible a few thunderstorms could briefly become severe for damaging winds and hail. However, again, most folks will stay dry, so outdoor plans will mostly be okay.
A cold front approaches on Sunday. Ahead of the front widespread showers with a few embedded thunderstorms are possible. As of Friday evening, severe storms are not expected, but gusty winds and downpours are possible in any storms. I do think the rain will be of the on-and-off variety, so I don't think it will rain all day, but keep the umbrellas nearby.
A low pressure system will develop along the cold front as it crosses Delmarva, and the low will stall out near the peninsula for the beginning of the work week. Expect wet weather both Monday and Tuesday.
It looks like we'll get a brief break from rain on Wednesday before another round of scattered showers and thunder by next Thursday.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average above normal, and precipitation near normal for May 9 - May 15.
