FORECAST DISCUSSION

Normal high: 72°F. Normal low: 50°F.

It has been a breezy, but mainly pleasant day on Delmarva. Temperatures have succeeded in a few locations at hitting 80°F, but a gusty southwest breeze has kept much of Delmarva in the mid 70s.

Low pressure that has been spinning in the Ohio River Valley is starting to lift to the north and east. The shower and thunderstorm threat has correspondingly shifted to the north, but we have been seeing thunderstorms popping up west of the Chesapeake Bay. While this evening will be dry for most, I don't want to rule out a shower or thunderstorm popping up, with the greatest chances over the northern half of Delmarva.

High pressure will briefly build in to the region for Wednesday, which will be pleasant with lots of sunshine and temperatures well into the 70s (a few locations could hit the low 80s).

A cold front will approach on Thursday, when we'll see increasing clouds as well as increasing chances for showers and thunder Thursday evening into Friday morning.

As high pressure builds in again, skies will clear out by Friday evening, and Mother's Day weekend is still looking very nice, with partly to mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 70s.

In the long range, temperatures are expected to average above normal, and precipitation below normal for May 13 - May 19.
