FORECAST DISCUSSION
Normal high: 74°F. Normal low: 53°F.
We continue our pattern of unsettled weather Wednesday evening.
As low pressure continues to slowly move out of the Indiana/Ohio region to the northeast, another impulse of energy will swing around the south side of the low, causing a warm front to lift up the East Coast. This will tap into some warm and humid air and trigger pop-up showers and thunderstorms over Delmarva on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Some storms could become strong to severe with damaging winds and hail the main threats.
We have another mild overnight, with showers and thunder early, then a potential for some patchy fog to develop after midnight.
Thursday will be a partly to mostly sunny day. Lingering moisture and instability could lead to a few pop-up showers and thunderstorms, but not as many as Wednesday.
Looking ahead to Friday and Saturday, we're expecting unseasonable warmth, with high temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 80s. A series of cold fronts could again trigger a few pop-up showers and thunderstorms.
High pressure builds in for Sunday, and we're looking at comfortably seasonable conditions Sunday through Tuesday with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the 70s.
Our next chance for stormy weather could arrive by the middle of next week.
In the long range, temperatures are expected to average below normal, and precipitation above normal for May 21 - May 27.
