Steamed crabs

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Get ready to crack open your wallet if you plan on cracking into any crab on the Fourth of July holiday. Businesses and restaurants on Delmarva say they've been selling out and are barely keeping up, like at the Crab Shack in Easton, Maryland. Owner Casey Higgins sold roughly 100 bushels in the morning alone.

Higgins says the season started out slow mainly because there weren't many crabs to harvest, but with the heat and business picking up, he says Wednesday is the last day he'll be this busy until Labor Day.

"Fourth of July is very busy for us. It's one of our biggest holidays and busiest days of the year," Higgins said.

And down Route 50 in Cambridge Ocean Odyssey Restaurant owner, Roy Todd, was busy prepping and selling for the day.

"Phone hasn't stopped ringing since about 9:15 this morning," Todd said. "People are looking for crabs, calling to see if we have them, what kind we have, how much the price is. There're all kinds of questions and you try to answer the questions you can. Hopefully, you have the right answers."

Like Higgins, Todd expected to sell out by the afternoon.
