BLACKSBURG, Va.- A 22-year-old Easton, Md. woman has been charged with both first- and second-degree murder in Virginia's Montgomery County Circuit Court.
Jessica Michelle Ewing was taken into custody in February in the murder of another female Virginia Tech student, Samantha Shrestha, who was identified in the arrest warrant.
The indictments, which were released Wednesday, charge Ewing with first and second degree murder, as well as transporting and concealing a dead body.
Ewing was a senior at Virginia Tech and a member of the marching band and was majoring in biology.
A second suspect, Keifer Kyle Brown, 23, and a 2013 graduate of the university, is charged with accessory after the fact “by receiving, relieving, comforting or assisting Jessica Ewing after knowing that such person had committed a felony,” the warrant states. He has only been charged with concealing a dead body at this time.
Ewing's next hearing date is set for Aug. 4 and a trial date has not yet been set.
