Apparent Lightning Strike Sparks St. Michaels House Fire

STEVENSVILLE, Md.- Authorities are investigating a Sunday morning fire that caused an estimated $700,000 in damage to a home in Stevensville. 

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the fire broke out at around 7:15 a.m. at the two story home located at 420 Beachside Drive. 

It took 60 firefighters from the United Communities Volunteer Fire Company approximately two hours to get the blaze under control. 

The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damage to the structure and another $100,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries. Investigators identified the homeowner as Barbara Openshaw. 

The home's smoke and fire alarms activated, according to investigators.
