OCEAN CITY, Md.- Car enthusiasts are rolling into Ocean City, Maryland, for H2Oi, a now unsanctioned VW and Audi event, despite this year's event being relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Ocean City police has brought out different agencies to help keep the resort town safe.
"In the past we experienced some disrupted behavior with this particular weekend so that's the reason we're bringing in our allied agencies," says Lindsay Richards, an Ocean City Police Department spokesperson. But car enthusiasts like Jared Mattocks say not even an increased police presence could keep them away.
"We get pulled over for everything, stretch tires, and much more, but we understand they have a job to do," Mattocks says. It is a job Ocean City police say they're fully prepared for.
"We're still expecting a large crowd, a large number of motor vehicles coming into town despite the fact the event moved," says Richards.
