SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police say a 20-year-old man was seriously injured after an industrial accident at the Seaford Ice Plant.
It happened around 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the plant's 24483 Sussex Highway location, according to DSP Sgt. Richard Bratz. He said Jalen Benson, of Seaford, was working at the plant when he became entangled in a piece of equipment.
Benson was transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and a prognosis of having to lose both legs, Bratz said.
Route 13 had to shut down for a short time as Trooper 2's aviation unit, fire and EMS crews arrived to provide medical assistance.
Benson was later transported to Christiana Hospital in stable condition, Bratz said.
