Man Charged with Gun Offense after Traffic Stop

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Wilmington Police have arrested passenger during a traffic stop after he ran from officers.           

It happened about 1 a.m. Friday at 9th and North Adams streets. Authorities say officers stopped a car for a traffic violation.           

Police say a passenger ran away from the car, but the officers caught him. Investigators say he had a .40 Caliber Glock handgun with an extended magazine, loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition in his pants' waistband.          

Eighteen-year-old Howard Watkins of Wilmington was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and resisting arrest.
