Millsboro Man Arrested for Screwdriver Attack on Beach

MILLSBORO, Del.- A Millsboro man is facing felony criminal charges following accusations that he attacked two men with a screwdriver during an argument over jet skis. 

Delaware State Police said it happened at around 1 p.m. Sunday in the beach area of Sandpiper Road, located in the Pot-Nets Seaside Mobile Home Park in Millsboro.

According to police, the investigation determined that Stephen C. Grady, 51, was on the beach when a 32-year-old man arrived at the beach with his family on jet skis. Troopers said Grady and the victim got into an argument about the jet skis, which turned physical. Police said that during the fight, Grady picked up a screwdriver and struck the victim in the face with it after threatening the victim and another 32-year-old man. Investigators said the second 32-year-old man got involved in the confrontation and attempted to break up the fight. Both men attempted to take the screwdriver away from Grady but were unsuccessful, according to police. Troopers said that during the struggle, Grady stabbed the initial victim on the top of the head and cut the second victim on the torso with the screwdriver. Grady then reportedly threw the screwdriver in the water before troopers arrived on scene. The victims and Grady were provided medical attention for their injuries.

Grady was taken into custody without incident and charged with the following crimes:

  • Possession of a Felony During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Two Counts- Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
  • Two Counts- second-degree Assault (Felony)
  • Disorderly conduct

Grady was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on a $28,100

 

unsecured bond.
