Nanticoke Little League in Seaford Broken Into & Vandalized

SEAFORD, Del. - A sports complex in Western Sussex County was recently broken into and vandalized. It's leaving many community members wondering why this happened.

The concession stand at the Nanticoke Little League in Seaford looks fine from the front. However, if you go around back, the door is missing its door knob.

That's when the Little League's Treasurer, Craig Dimes, realized the stand was burglarized over the weekend.  "I came by to do a security check on the facility and noticed that the inside had been rummaged. The back door was left open and the side door had been damaged. Then I started investigating more. The freezer had been messed with and there was food that was eaten and taken. I don't know how long they were in there," says Dimes." Inside the concession stand is where the evidence still remains. The bowl that the burglar used to eat food from sits on the counter. Dimes says the Seaford Police Department is running finger prints on it and top of the freezer.  Vicki Grey, who's kids played at the Little League, says it's sad to hear what happened. "It's a shame. What amazes me is that they took the time to pry things a part to get in. I grew up in the little league, my kids played little league, it's disheartening," says Grey. Dimes says food and clothing items were taken. He says the league is looking to install cameras to prevent future break ins. Community members are asked to contact the Seaford Police Department if they have any information.
