Boy, 13, Charged After Wrecking Father's SUV Near Harrington

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police have identified the body discovered Tuesday floating in the ocean near 127th Street as that of Michael West, 25, of Temple Hills, Md. 

Police said Thursday that autopsy results are still pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the State of Maryland in Baltimore. However, detectives have determined that West’s death was not suspicious in nature, police said. 

At around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday,Ocean City Beach Patrol lifeguards located a man's body in the ocean near 127th Street after a citizen reported seeing an object floating offshore. The body showed signs of being in the water for an extended period of time, according to investigators. 

Detectives of the Ocean City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene to take over the investigation. Through investigation, detectives were able to positively identify the body.

Detectives also learned that West had been reported as a missing person to the Prince George’s County Police Department and was last seen at around 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, in the area of 127th Street.
