OCEAN PINES, Md.- Officials in one Worcester County community have found a new way to reduce its large population of geese.
Maryland Geese Control will bring in trained dogs to chase off the birds from Ocean Pines properties.
"The dog can get in the water and chase the geese out of the water and sort of herd them and move them along," says Ocean Pines General Manager John Bailey.
Recently, Ocean Pines got rid of some of its geese by having the USDA euthanize nearly 300 of them. It was a removal that upset many neighbors.
But neighbors remain hopeful this new program will work..
Maryland Geese Control, which is in charge of the project, says the dogs will be used to disrupt the geese' eating routine.
Ocean Pines officials say the project should start next week.
