OCPD: Unsanctioned H20i Results in 70 Arrests

OCEAN CITY, Md.- Ocean City police say they arrested 70 people during this year's unsanctioned H20i car event.

Videos showed cars excessively speeding on Coastal Highway and leaving skid marks on the street. Multiple police agencies responded to the event. Hundreds of car enthusiasts still came to Ocean City, despite the event's official home being Atlantic City, New Jersey, this year.

"This is where it all started," says H20i participant Tyler Haggins. "This is where it all begin so we just want to keep the routes going. There is no reason to change it."

Some neighbors told WBOC the event was a nuisance. Last year police blasted "appalling behavior" that occurred during H20i.

"It's on purpose you know," says Kenneth Arvin, referring to the noise from the car activity. "Drag racing and all of that, you know it's unnecessary."

Despite the arrests, Ocean City police officers tell WBOC no serious crimes occurred during the unsanctioned H20i.
