SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police say a 16-year-old boy from Salisbury was arrested Tuesday for allegedly robbing the PNC Bank on West Isabella Street.
Police on Wednesday said that Michael Reed Quillen is charged as an adult with armed robbery, robbery, theft and assault.
The robbery happened just before 10 a.m. Tuesday. Police said an unarmed Quillen walked into the bank, handed a note to the teller demanding money, then took off on foot after receiving cash. Police did not reveal what was on the note, but they told WBOC the armed robbery charge came from what was written on that note.
Police said the incident was captured on the bank's security cameras and Quillen's description was sent out to the responding officers. Investigators said Quillen was stopped in the area of Parsons and Mitchell roads just before 10:30 a.m., after officers realized he matched the description of the robbery suspect. Police also said witnesses were able to positively identify Quillen as the same person who had robbed the bank.
The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office K-9 assisted in the investigation and conducted a K-9 track, which did not reveal additional evidence, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Although 16 years of age, police said Quillen is being charged as an adult. He was ordered held at the Wicomico County Detention Center on $250,000 bond.
