BRIDGEVILLE, Del.- Delaware State Police have released the name of a woman killed in a Monday night crash in Bridgeville.
Troopers on Wednesday identified the victim as 40-year-old Kimberly Linnae Billie Brown, of Bridgeville.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 6 p.m. when a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 32-year-old Dustin R. Westwood, of Lincoln, was traveling southbound on Chaplains Chapel Road south of Deer Forest Road and negotiating a slight curve in the roadway. Police said that meantime, a 2005 Nissan Altima, drivien by Brown, was traveling northbound on Chaplains Chapel Road in the same general vicinity. Police said that for unknown reasons Westwood entered the northbound lane and his Cherokee struck Brown's Altima nearly head-on.
Troopers Westwood was properly restrained and declined medical treatment. He was transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:
- First-degree vehicular homicide (felony)
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked
- Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Drug
- Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession
- Failed to remain within a single lane
Westwood was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $55,001 cash only bond.
Police said Brown was not properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Chaplains Chapel Road between Deer Forest and Russell roads was closed for approximately three-and-a-half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
