Sears stores across the nation will be closing their doors and thousands of people could be laid off. That's according to Seeking Alpha, a financial news and market tracking company.
The report says that over 100 Sears stores will be closing by the end of the year along with over five thousand employees who will be laid off.
WBOC reached out to Sears. In an email sent to WBOC, the company stated, "the reported store count and list of closures as first reported isn't accurate". However, the company did not give a number as to how many stores were closing and how many employees could be laid off.
The company goes on to saying, "we would not dispute that we're closing some stores but those stores were already told a while ago and we will update in our next quarterly filing."
WBOC has not yet confirmed if there are any stores that will be impacted here on Delmarva.
