Former Dover Police Officer Acquitted of Assault Now Joining Greensboro Police

DENTON, Md. - A Caroline County teen is dead after police say they arrested him for attempting to kidnap another boy. It happened Sunday night not too far from Wyatt's Rentals Trailer Park off Greensboro Road where the teen lived.

After arresting 19-year-old Antone Black, police say he began to show signs of medical distress and was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The case is under investigation by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit.

Cars drove by orange traffic drums and a purple discarded glove inside the trailer park - the remains of an investigation where Black and his family lived.

In his golf cart Monday afternoon, landlord Gary Wyatt drove through the neighborhood. Wyatt says he's still in shock.

"It just got out of hand," Wyatt said. "Everything did."

A Greensboro police officer, assisted by an off-duty Ridgely police officer, responded to a call of Black dragging an unidentified 12-year-old down the road. An officer ordered Black to release the boy and asked if the two were related. Black said they were brothers, but the boy said they were not. Police later confirmed they were not brothers.

Wyatt says the events that followed were bizarre.

According to police, Black stated he loved the boy and immediately fled the scene. Police pursued Black on foot, ending up at the trailer park and inside a car. Police then tazed Black after he bit two officers and struck another in the face.

"But that didn't stop him. He continued exiting the car on the passenger's side and another short pursuit ensued on foot," MSP spokesperson Elena Russo said.

Russo says not long after arresting Black, police started to administer Narcan and CPR.

"Police believe that there may have been some use of illegal drugs prior to the incident," Russo said. "We're not sure if that may have had something to do with the incident."

Police say they don't know what killed Black and if being tazed played a role in his death. An autopsy showed there were no significant injuries to his body and a toxicology report is still underway.

Russo says they're still investigating body camera footage. As for the 12-year-old, Russo say he has since been reunited with his parents.

Police continue the search for a motive.
