Three Men Convicted in Sharptown Shootout

SHARPTOWN, Md.- Three men have been convicted and sentenced in connection with a 2016 shootout at Cherry Beach Park in Sharptown, Md.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said that on July 24, 2016, Bryan Blake, 22,  Jeffrey Whitten, 18, and Logan Littleton, 21, went to Cherry Beach Park to purchase marijuana from Mitchell Dayton.

According to witnesses, as Dayton was giving Whitten the marijuana, Blake and Littleton revealed a shotgun and other assault weapon to Dayton. Authorities said Mitchell backed away, while Whitten took the marijuana and returned to Blake's car. Blake and Littleton followed, and as Blake began to drive off, police report Littleton began to fire a round from his shotgun. Dayton returned fire, striking Blake's car and a street sign. 

On July 18, a Wicomico County judge sentenced Blake to 20 years in the Division of Corrections with all but nine years suspended for armed robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Whitten was convicted of armed robbery and received a sentence of 20 years in the Division of Corrections with all but 10 years suspended.

Littleton was convicted of armed robbery and the use of firearm, receiving a sentence of 15 years in the Division of Corrections with all but 10 years suspended. 

The victim of the armed robbery, Dayton, was also convicted of three counts of second-degree assault and conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana and received a 20-year suspended sentence for his involvement in the incident.
