FREDERICA, Del. - Troopers are investigating a shooting that happened early Sunday morning west of Frederica.

Police say it happened just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4000 block of Johnny Cake Landing Road.

Troopers arrived on scene after reports of multiple shots fired. Police secured the area and contacted several witnesses as they attempted to leave.

Shortly after the report of shots fired, troopers say two victims arrived at the Milford Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds. Police say the victims arrived separately and did not know each other, but attended the same party on Johnny Cake Landing Road.

Police say both victims sustained gunshot wounds to the torso, and were treated and released from the hospital.

Police say through witness interviews, troopers learned an argument occurred outside of the residence and escalated into a fight. Police say shots were fired subsequently striking the victims as they left the party.

The victims were not believed to be the intended targets of the shooting. There is no suspect information at this time as the investigation is on-going.
