SEAFORD, Del. - Delaware State Police continue to investigate a deadly crash that happened Wednesday afternoon on U.S. 13 in Seaford.

State Police say 28-year-old Holly R. Boyce, of Greenwood, was killed after she rear-ended a tractor trailer just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on Sussex Highway (U.S. 13) just south of Cannon Road (S.R. 18).

According to police, the preliminary investigation reveals 56-year-old Tia Gaines, of Felton, was driving a 2010 Freight liner Cascadia pulling an enclosed trailer southbound on U.S. 13 in the right lane when she turned on her right turn signal and prepared to turn into a business entrance near Cannon Road. Police say Boyce, who was traveling directly behind the tractor trailer in a 2007 Buick Lucerne, did not notice that it was slowing down, and hit the back of the trailer, continuing underneath it until her car came to a stop in the right lane.

Boyce was wearing her seatbelt at the time, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Gaines was uninjured.

State Police say no charges will be filed in this incident.

U.S. 13 southbound south of Cannon Road was closed for approximately three and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
