Bicyclist Dies from Injuries Sustained in Ellendale Crash

Editor's note: In the original Aug. 15 story about a crash that killed a pedestrian, Delaware State Police reported erroneously that a Greyhound bus was involved in a crash with a pedestrian near Frankford, Del. Police now say a United Bus Tours bus was involved in the crash, not a Greyhound bus.

A corrected version of the story is below:

FRANKFORD, Del. (WBOC/AP)- Delaware State Police are investigating after a bus struck and killed a pedestrian walking on a road near Frankford.

Police said a United Bus Tours bus carrying 47 passengers was traveling north along US-113 near Frankford at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Troopers said a pedestrian was reported to be walking in the roadway.

The pedestrian was struck and severely injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said alcohol use by the pedestrian appears to be a factor. Police identified the pedestrian as 56-year-old Sylvester O. Bailey of Millsboro.

The driver, identified as Lin Jin Wei, 47, of New York, brought the bus to a controlled stop. No one on the bus was injured, according to police.

Police said a Selbyville police officer was traveling behind the bus, searching for the pedestrian in the road. The officer verified that speed was not a factor in the crash.
