SEAFORD, Del.- Delaware State Police say a 68-year-old man was injured Monday after falling about 30 feet into a partially filled grain silo west of Seaford.
Troopers said the incident happened at around 10:37 a.m. at 6127 Owls Nest Road. Police said the man was on top of the silo cleaning the interior walls when he fell approximately 30 feet into the top hole. Another man working on the farm had called 9-1-1 to report the incident.
Police, along with the Seaford Volunteer Fire Company, Sussex County EMS, Sussex and Kent County Technical Rescue Teams and Perdue, worked together to rescue the Seaford man.
The man was placed in a harness and hoisted out of the silo after approximately two and half hours. Troopers said the injured man was then flown to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center by Delaware State Police Aviation Helicopter Trooper 2 as a precautionary measure for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
