SALISBURY, Md. -- The Wicomico Youth & Civic Center says it will be introducing new security policies starting this week, that will include new entry screenings, bag checks, and a new bag size limit.

Starting Friday, venue guests will be screened for prohibited items, bag searched, pat-downed, and expected to walk through a metal detector upon entry. Bags, purses, and/or backpacks bigger than 13" x 13" x 13" will also be prohibited inside the venue. Officials say for family events, diaper bags will be allowed, but are still subject to a search.

“The public’s safety is our top priority,” said Kevin Wright, manager of the WY&CC. “The venue implementing metal detectors, hand wands and bag checks prior to entry is an essential part of providing a safe experience for all of our guests.”

Guests are advise to arrive to all events 30 minutes before their event times to allow time for security screenings. The new security policy will be introduced at this weekend's WWE SummerSlam Heatwave, as the tour comes into town Friday, August 10th at the WY&CC.
