FRUITLAND, Md.- Wicomico County has opened another 24/7 recycling station at the Fruitland Convenience Center, just off Walnut Tree Road.

People who live in the southern part of the county were left without a nearby recycling station when locations behind Fruitland City Hall and on Salisbury University's campus shut down.

The convenience center's new location features lighting and security cameras.

The county has also completed several improvements at the Civic Center Recycling Station in Salisbury. The site now features fencing, signage reminding people what can and can not be donated, lighting, and security cameras to prevent illegal dumping.

Public Works Director Dallas Baker said cameras installed at other stations have been successful at catching people dumping off things like mattresses and televisions.

Baker said the eventual goal is to install lighting and cameras at every recycling station in Wicomico County.
