New Security Measures Implemented in some Wicomico County Schools

SALISBURY, Md. - Wicomico County Public Schools says the 15 active cases of COVID-19 on Maryland's state website are cases from before the first day of school.

The reported date is September 8th is because that is when the state received the test results of the prior week. None of those who tested positive out of the 15 were inside the Parkside High School building, according to Wicomico County Public Schools assistant superintendent Kim Miles.  

"Within the past fourteen days there have been fifteen positive cases all of which were associated with athletics," said Miles. 

Specifically, the Parkside High School football program. Wicomico County Public Schools says they are working with the Maryland Department of Health on finding ways to make the reporting on the website clearer. Wicomico schools says it has no new active cases.
