We’re all geared up to celebrate the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence this weekend. But it’s not like that famous document made our country free all by itself. Years of war and sacrifice followed the original Fourth of July. Independence didn’t become a reality until the British Army surrendered five years after 1776. In the middle of that triumph was an Eastern Shoreman.
