REHOBOTH BEACH, DE - An 81-year-old man died last week from injuries sustained in a September 2nd crash near Rehoboth Beach, according to Delaware State Police.
Police say on September 2nd, just before 5:45 p.m., a Honda Cruiser was driving north in the left lane on Coastal Highway as it approached a Jeep Cherokee stopped in traffic ahead of it. The Honda failed to stop for unknown reasons, according to police, and hit the back of the Cherokee. The driver of the Honda, 81-year-old Richard Bland, of Rehoboth, was reportedly partially ejected.
Bland was taken to a nearby hospital for critical injuries. On September 19th, Bland succumbed to those injuries, police say.
The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, a 55-year old man from Randolph New Jersey, was reportedly not injured.
