Maryland Department of Agriculture Begins Aerial Spraying to Control Increasing Mosquito Populations

SOMERSET COUNTY, Md. – The Maryland Department of Agriculture announced areas to receive aerial spray treatments beginning tomorrow to reduce the adult mosquito population in Somerset County.

Tomorrow evening, a twin-engine plane with red and blue accents will fly 300 to 500 feet above Crisfield, Ewell, Hopewell, Rhodes Point and Tylerton, dispersing Trumpet insecticide at less than a fluid ounce per acre.

The Department says approximately 7,000 acres will be treated, advising it is not necessary for people, pets or livestock to vacate the treated areas.
