A Magnolia family has raised concerns with Amazon after their home security cameras captured a delivery driver pulling directly onto their lawn to drop off packages, twice.
In the video, an Amazon driver begins to turn into the driveway and then proceeds to drive directly onto the lawn. Michael DeVito and Linda Hogan, the homeowners, expressed their shock at the incident,
"I was shocked, stunned, and speechless. I wanted to come out and say something but I couldn't move. It was just unbelievable," said Hogan.
But if the first instance wasn’t enough, nine days later, the same driver returned and once again drove onto their lawn.
"I couldn't believe anyone would do that, let alone do it twice. It was nuts," said DeVito.
They say they haven't seen anything like it before,
“We get amazon deliveries everyday, but we’ve never had an issue like this before – everybody is able to come down the driveway, back-up or k turn and leave," said Hogan.
WBOC contacted Amazon with the video and they responded with the following statement:
"We've apologized to the customer and are investigating the situation." (Branden Baribeau, Amazon Spokesperson)
Later that afternoon, Michael and Linda tell us a representative reached out apologizing in a lengthy phone call, offering to file a claim with insurance to fix the tire marks in the grass.
But in all, the couple says they just want accountability:
"I would hope that the first time we reached out to Amazon, they would have spoken to her, and it wouldn’t have happened again. I don’t want anyone to lose their job, just don’t send her here."
