New Updates to Cambridge Marketplace, People Happy

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- Cambridge is undergoing another major transformation. If you drive along Route 50, you've likely seen all the construction that's been going on at Cambridge Marketplace. Now, the same developers are introducing another construction site right down the road called "Dorchester Marketplace."

Fairchild Properties LLC Vice President, Hunter Fairchild says they're currently working on the old Metro/Blockbuster building. After sitting nearly 20 years empty, a new Tractor Supply Company will call the building home. Fairchild says an Advanced Auto Parts store will also relocate there. A nearby 35,000-square-foot pad site is still looking for a tenant.

Fairchild says it's all about location.

"We've really seen a lot of potential for just the area in general," Fairchild said. "There's 13 million cars that go by there every single year, so it is really good visibility and access to both sites. The speed limit drops down there, so when you're driving by, you get a nice long look at both locations."

Fairchild says construction will continues at Cambridge Marketplace. So far, a new Wendy's is set to open up next month. Next door, the long-awaited Shore Regional Medical Center is on track to finish by June 2021. Fairchild says the two story medical center will hold beds and services up top. Office space for healthcare staff is on the bottom.

Fairchild adds more plans for a professional office space will sit by the Goodwill Store next door as construction continues at both Cambridge and Dorchester Marketplace.
