CAMBRIDGE, Md. - A Cambridge police officer collided with a car and crashed into a building while responding to a call in Dorchester County today.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Academy Street and Washington Street.
The exact circumstances are unknown, but police say the officer had his lights and sirens on when the crash happened, and it was not a chase.
The police vehicle crashed into Genesis Food Market.
The Cambridge Rescue Fire Company says the driver in the other car was trapped, and they successfully removed them from the car before EMS took over their care.
The officer was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the driver in the other car was flown to shock trauma in Baltimore.
