Rehoboth Beach Christmas Tree

REHOBOTH BEACH, DE - The City of Rehoboth Beach caught a break today after their Christmas tree installation didn’t exactly go as planned.

According to a social media post from the City’s official Facebook account, a 40-foot “green giant” arborvitae was brought to the City’s bandstand today on a trailer. As the tree was being lifted off the trailer, the City says it broke in two with a loud snap.

Instead of abandoning the arborvitae, however, the City says they decided to use the upper two-thirds of the tree, which they say stands at about 25-feet tall.

“The city's holiday tree may not be as tall as some in previous years,” the Facebook post reads, “but it still has a gorgeous shape. We can't wait to see it lit up!

The tree was donated to the City by Dean and Debbie Smith according to the City. Rehoboth Beach’s Tree Lighting and Holiday Sing-Along is scheduled for November 24th at 6:30 p.m.
