Community Contributions Fund New Chincoteague "Pony Ambulance"

Community support has helped the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company meet its fundraising goal for a new Polaris off-road vehicle, a vital piece of equipment officials call a "pony ambulance."

CHINCOTEAGUE, VA– The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company successfully met its fundraising goal thanks to generous community support.

CVFC asked the public for help raising $25,000 to buy a Polaris off-road vehicle – a piece of vital equipment it calls the "pony ambulance."

Donors raised over $8,500 by Monday morning, when the group announced an anonymous donor pledged another $8,500. Other contributors filled in the fundraising gap throughout Monday, reaching the goal by 10 p.m.

CVFC says it will share photos as soon as the equipment is operational.

The vehicle will help rescue and care for the wild ponies ahead of the 100th Annual Pony Chincoteague Pony Roundup, Swim and Auction in July.
