School Threats

SUSSEX COUNTY, DE - Cape Henlopen and Sussex Central High Schools alerted police yesterday to a threatening image depicting a gun being circulated on social media.

Delaware State Police say they were contacted around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25th, by Cape Henlopen High School staff regarding an image of a gun and a threat towards the school. Sussex Central High School staff then contacted them about the same image, according to police.

Law enforcement’s ensuing investigation revealed the image has been in circulation online for several years, police say. Delaware State Police said Thursday morning they have no intelligence to indicate there is a credible threat to either school.

DSP asks neighbors to remember absence of intelligence does not always translate to a lack of a threat and neighbors should always call 911 to report suspicious activity.
