SALISBURY, MD - A 59-year-old Wicomico County man has been sentenced to over seven decades in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of child sex abuse and rape.
Robert Hill Jr. was convicted in October of two counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, two counts of Rape in the Second Degree, three counts of Sexual Offense in the Third Degree, three counts of Sexual Offense in the Fourth Degree, and four counts of Assault in the Second Degree.
According to the Office of the State’s Attorney for Wicomico County, Hill sexually abused a child in his care who was younger than eleven.
On December 21st, Hill was sentenced to 75 years of incarceration.
The State’s Attorney’s Office says if he is ever released from prison, he will be subject to sexual offender supervision and register as a sexual offender for life.
“Sexual violence perpetrated against children is an unspeakable crime, and its effects are often felt by the survivors for life,” said Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes. “In this case, evidence was presented of this Defendant’s long-standing history of inflicting sexual abuse against minors. Because of the survivors’ courage in testifying at trial, the jury’s considered verdict, and the Court’s strong sentence, this Defendant will never again be able to harm another child.”
