A collection of school supplies

DELAWARE - Delaware State Police are asking the public to help students in need prepare for the upcoming school year.

DSP’s Community Engagement Unit is bringing back its annual “Operation Troopers Have Your BACKpack” program, which collects school supplies for children across the First State.

Donations will be accepted from Aug. 3 through Aug. 21 at any Delaware State Police troop or Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union location. Collection boxes will be available at each location.

Requested supplies include:

-Backpacks

-No. 2 pencils

-24-count boxes of crayons

-Spiral notebooks

-Large pink erasers

-Colored pencils

-Washable markers

-Highlighters

-Three-ring binders

-Wide-ruled loose-leaf paper

-Composition books

-Boxes of tissues

-Plastic pocket folders

-Hand sanitizer

DSP says the donated supplies will be distributed to students at the beginning of the school year.

Sean joined WBOC as Digital Content Producer in February 2023. Originally from New Jersey, Sean graduated from Rutgers University with bachelor’s degrees in East Asian Studies and Religion. He has lived in New York, California, and Virginia before he and his wife finally found a place to permanently call home in Maryland. With family in Laurel, Ocean Pines, Berlin, and Captain’s Cove, Sean has deep ties to the Eastern Shore and is thrilled to be working at WBOC serving the community.
