Delmar Man Convicted on Felony Drug Charges

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. - A jury found Japree Ayers guilty on felony drug charges after a two-day trial.

The Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office announced that on Nov. 21, Japree Ayers, 24, of Delmar, Maryland, was found guilty on of three (3) counts of Possession Large Amount of Controlled Dangerous Substance, three (3) counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute Controlled Dangerous Substance, and related charges.

The Honorable Matthew A. Maciarello, Associate Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, presided over the trial. Sentencing was postponed pending the completion of a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Ayers remains in custody pending sentencing.

On Aug. 31, 2022, officers from the Salisbury City Police Department executed a search and seizure warrant at 613 Truitt Street, in Salisbury. Authorities say at the time of the search warrant execution, a white Volvo was located parked behind the residence. Officials say a search of that vehicle resulted in the recovery of a large amount of heroin, a large amount of fentanyl, and a loaded handgun. Documents were reportedly located within the home and vehicle which contained Japree Ayers name and phone number.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes specifically thanked the Salisbury City Police Department for their work in this investigation. SA Dykes also thanked Senior Assistant State’s Attorney, Patrizia J. Coletta, who prosecuted this case.
