Delmar, De.- Delmar School District will host the service for one of it's students who died over the weekend, Carter Figgs. Superintendent Dr. Andrew O'Neal says the school was a fitting location to mourn this loss in the community.
"We feel it because Delmar is a tight-knit community we really in times of need, it's kind of a central point of the town, and we just wanted to reach out and help the family as best we can... just felt like it was the right thing to do," said O'Neal.
O'Neal said that in the last week, the benefits of being in a small community are amplified.
"Being small has it's pluses and minuses but in a time like this being small has been very beneficial because everybody is able to rally together and work together in a time of need... we just work together," said O'Neal.
16 year old Carter Figgs died over the weekend after the car he was in sped and crashed into a telephone pole in Salisbury. The driver, whose identity has not been released, is facing numerous charges.
Visitation hours will begin at 11 A.M. on Sunday October 15, and the service will follow at 1:00.
