MARYLAND - In a display of solidarity, local fire departments stood watch in Baltimore today as the city’s fire fighters attended the funeral services for fallen firefighter Rodney Pitts III.
Salisbury’s Engine 16-1 covered the quarters of Engine 36 in Baltimore City, according to the Salisbury Fire Department.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the members and families of the Baltimore City FD,” Salisbury Fire Department said in a social media post.
Delmar’s Station 74 also stood by during the funeral, covering for Baltimore City’s Engine 45, while Easton Volunteer Fire Department’s Engine 64 joined the watch at Baltimore’s Company 46.
According to Facebook group Delmarva Fire Wire, two engines from Ocean City and one from Denton were also present across the Bay to fill in during the funeral procession.
Rodney Pitts III died fighting a fire on Baltimore’s Linden Heights Avenue on October 19th. A second Baltimore City firefighter, Dillon Rinaldo, died less than a week after battling the same fire.
