Somerset County Schools Announces 2021-2022 Administration Changes

WESTOVER, Md.- Somerset County Public Schools is announcing changes to school administration and board supervisor positions for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year. 

Woodson Elementary School welcomes Deborah Morton, previously the Striving Readers Literacy Grant Coordinator at the Somerset Board of Education, as the school’s new principal and Dorothy Bell-Jackson, previously posted at Greenwood Elementary, as Assistant Principal. Jensen Long remains at WES as the school’s second Assistant Principal.

Crisfield Academy & High School welcomes its former Assistant Principal, Jeff Hale, as the school’s new principal, and Lorie Tull as the school’s new Assistant Principal. Keisha Evans will serve as the school’s new Dean of Students. Former CAHS Principal, ony Bevilacqua, has moved into a new role at the Board of Education as Supervisor of Instruction & Teacher Mentoring.

Greenwood Elementary School welcomes Kirstin Gibson, previously posted at Woodson Elementary, as its new principal. Germaine Richardson, previously posted at Washington Academy & High School, and April Schaub, previously of Woodson Elementary, will serve as the school’s new Assistant Principals. George Klein will serve as the school’s new Dean of Students.

Princess Anne Elementary School welcomes new principal, Terra Taylor, previously an Assistant Principal at Washington Academy and High School, and Christina South, former teacher at Deal Island Elementary, as the school’s new Assistant Principal.

Somerset Intermediate School continues under the leadership of principal, Elizabeth Berry and Assistant Principal Corey Ballard and welcomes Christa Taylor as the school’s newest Assistant Principal. Former assistant principal, Stephanie O’Hara has moved into a new role in the Student Services Department as the Homeless/Mental Health Coordinator for the district.

Somerset County Technical High School reopens in the fall under the new leadership of Cortney Monar, previously posted at Princess Anne Elementary. Monar fills the vacancy left by recently retired principal, Keith O’Neal. Tina Greenwood, formerly a Teacher Mentor at Washington Academy & High school, will serve as the school’s new Assistant Principal.

Washington Academy and High School continues under the leadership of Principal Chantal Russum, and welcomes David Arnold, formerly posted at Greenwood Elementary School, and Sharon Richards, former Dean at WAHS, as the school’s new Assistant Principals. Shelton Handy will serve as the school’s new Dean of Students.

Deal Island Elementary School welcomes Ashley Walters, previously posted at Greenwood Elementary, as its new principal. Former principal, Ted Gibson, will serve as the new Supervisor of Instructional Technology at the Somerset Board of Education office.

Ewell Elementary continues under the leadership of teaching principal, Janet Evans.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend their school’s open houses; all scheduled for Aug. 26 from 2:30 – 6 p.m., for an opportunity to meet new members of their school’s new administration team. SCPS welcomes all students back for the 2021-2022 school year on Aug. 30.
