Jameson Tweedie

Delaware

DELAWARE - Governor Matt Meyer has nominated Jameson Tweedie, a longtime environmental lawyer, as his choice for Delaware’s next Public Advocate.

The nomination, which will need confirmation from the Senate, comes as the state faces ongoing challenges around energy affordability.

According to the Governor's Office, Tweedie spent six years in the Environmental Unit of the Delaware Department of Justice, representing the State on climate, energy, and other environmental topics. He has also reviewed energy cases before the Public Service Commission and has helped craft agreements to increase the supply of energy into Delaware.

“As Delaware’s Public Advocate, Jameson Tweedie will hold utility companies accountable by aggressively challenging unfair rate hikes while advocating for greater affordability and transparency," said Gov. Meyer. "He will work to maintain consumer-friendly policies and ensure our state’s most vulnerable populations are not left behind as we continue to meet our state’s energy needs.”

He is currently a senior staff attorney at the State Energy & Environmental Impact Center at NYU School of Law.

A Delaware Bar member since 2006, Tweedie earned his law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Middlebury College.
